The stars of boxing’s present and future will be out in full force at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 13, when Golden Boy Promotions in association with Khan Promotions and The Great Promotions present a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING tripleheader featuring a pivotal welterweight showdown and two world championship fights, live on SHOWTIME® (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).

In a pair of must-see, high-stakes welterweight matchups, British superstar and former unified super lightweight world champion Amir “King” Khan of Bolton, Englandwill take onformer two-division world champion Devon Alexander “The Great” of St. Louis, Mo., while undefeated interim WBA Welterweight World Champion Keith “One Time” Thurman of Clearwater, Fla., will defend against Leonard “The Lion” Bundu of Lazio, Italy.

Rounding out an action-packed night on the three-fight SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will be WBO Junior Middleweight World Champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade of Providence, R.I., who risks his 154-pound belt against tough undefeated young star Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo of Houston, Texas. Provodnikov-Algieri / Andrade-Rose World Title Fights at Barclays Center‏

World Championship boxing returns to Barclays Center when the “The Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov makes the first defense of his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior welterweight title and his Brooklyn debut against undefeated world-rated contender and New York product Chris Algieri. Provodnikov vs. Algieri will take place Saturday, June 14 and will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

The co-main event will feature undefeated WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade making his first title defense, against No. 1 contender and mandatory challenger Brian “The Lion” Rose. Continue reading

K2 Wins Zaurbek Baysangurov vs. Demetrius Andrade WBO Purse Bid

A purse bid was held today in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the highly anticipated WBO Junior Middleweight World Title bout between champion Zaurbek Baysangurov and top rated and undefeated contender Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade.

The winning bid by K2 Promotions was $501,000 while the very strong secondary bid of $401,000 came from Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxingand Banner Promotions.

Friday Night Results

Paramount Theatre in Huntington, New York – 2008 Olympian junior middleweight Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade (19-0, 13 KOs) pitched a 10 round shutout against Freddy ‘El Riel’ Hernandez (30-4. 20 KOs) even dropping Hernandez in round six. All three judges scored it the same, 100-89.

On the undercard Emmanuel Taylor (16-1, 11 KOs) stopped fellow welterweight Raymond Serrano (18-2, 8 KOs) in the sixth round when Serrano found himself helpless on ropes and the referee had no choice but to put a halt to the bout.

Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York – Brian Vera (22-6, 13 KOs) scored a surprising victory when he defeated Serhiy Dzinziruk (37-2-1, 24 KOs) by a tenth round TKO. Vera knocked down Dzinziruk three times, twice in the first round and once in the tenth. A short time after the last knockdown the referee stepped in to stop Dzinziruk from receiving further punishment. The fight was fought at the middleweight limit.

Welterweight Jose Hernandez (14-6-1, 6 KOs) sprang up an upset when he stopped Tony Luis (15-1, 7 KOs) in the eighth round.
